Ville de Montréal: Works on Greene Avenue between Prospect and Sainte-Catherine


Starting July 20, major infrastructure work will take place on Greene Avenue, between Prospect Street and Sainte-Catherine Street, for an estimated duration of six weeks.

The project involves the rehabilitation and reconstruction of a major water main, in coordination with the City of Westmount.

Traffic and Parking

Several traffic restrictions will be in place during the construction period:

  • Greene Avenue: closed between Prospect Street and Sainte-Catherine Street
  • Prospect Street: local traffic only
  • Sainte-Catherine Street: closed between Dorchester Boulevard and Atwater Avenuedetours in effect
  • Parking spaces will be temporarily used to store equipment and ensure a safe work zone
  • Traffic controllers (flaggers) will be on site as needed to facilitate safe and efficient travel

Please follow all posted signs and detour instructions.

Work Schedule

  • Monday to Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday (if needed): 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The schedule may change depending on weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

Construction Impacts

  • The use of heavy machinery such as jackhammers may cause noise, dust, vibrations, and odors. All necessary precautions will be taken to minimize disruptions.
  • Temporary interruptions to water service are planned. Advance notices (48 hours) will be distributed to affected buildings.
  • When sidewalks are obstructed, temporary safe walkways will be provided to maintain access to businesses and local services.

Waste, Recycling, and Compost Collection

  • Waste collection will continue as scheduled.
  • In affected areas, please ensure that your bins are clearly labeled with your address and placed at the usual location. If bins are not accessible to collection crews, the contractor will move them for pickup.

Public Transit

  • STM public transit service will be maintained, but some bus stops, routes, or schedules may be affected.
